We all are aware of how K-pop has taken over the world by storm, and I am happy to report that K beauty trends are not behind. When it comes to beauty and skincare, Korean beauty trends have taken a special place in our hearts as who doesn't want a dewy fresh face all day long!!! This minimalistic natural korean makeup look is one of the most sought after looks as it focuses on enhancing one's features and creating a youthful, fresh-faced appearance. In this blog post, we will explore the key steps and products needed to achieve the coveted natural Korean makeup look.
Step 1: Prep your skin. Please!!
Korean or not, In any beauty regime, skincare is the foundation of any makeup look. Start by thoroughly cleansing your face and applying a lightweight moisturiser or a moisturiser as per your skin needs. Remember to use a gentle exfoliator regularly to remove dead skin cells and achieve a smooth canvas for makeup application. You can use creams, serums or face oils whatever suits you.
Recommendation:
Step 2: Get your flawless base.
The natural Korean makeup look is about flawless, youthful and dewy skin. Begin by applying a light, hydrating BB cream or cushion foundation to even out your skin tone. These products provide sheer coverage and a healthy glow, giving you that signature Korean dewy finish. Overloading of base is a complete no no and I prefer using medium coverage foundations for the same instead of full coverage. If necessary, use a concealer and a corrector to cover any blemishes or dark circles, but remember to keep it minimal. Overloading of products is not required.
Recommendation:
Step 3: Softer Brows
Korean makeup looks are about subtle approaches.. Instead of creating bold, defined brows, use a brow pencil or powder to fill in any sparse areas and create a natural shape. Always brush your brows upwards with a spoolie brush for a feathery effect. This will help achieve a youthful look.
Recommendation:
Step 4: Soft neutral Eyes
For the eyes, stick to neutral and earthy tones. Avoid heavy dark eyeshadow and opt for light, shimmery shades to create a soft and natural look. For the crease use a slightly darker shade of browns and for the lid use pastel or shimmery champagne colour. One can also use brown pencil on the waterline and smudge it, keeping it tight to the waterline area. Don't forget to curl your lashes and apply a coat of mascara to open up your eyes.
Step 5: Flushed Cheeks
Flushed cheeks are often considered an attractive feature and contribute to a youthful and vibrant appearance. Therefore, blush is a key element in achieving the youthful Korean makeup look. Some of the colours you can use are softer shades of pink and peach. As per your face shape you can apply your blush from apples of your cheeks and blending it out towards your temples. Remember the key is to blend the blush properly so that the blush looks natural and gives a very healthy glow to the skin.
Step 6: Gradient Lips
One of the main features of Korean makeup is their style of lipstick application.First thing first, to start lip makeup we stick to the basics of moisturising. If you have dry chapped lips, use lip scrub to take off the dead skin and then moisturise your lips with lip balm or lip oil. Then, use a lip tint or a sheer lipstick in a soft, rosy red, pink or peach shade and apply it to the centre of your lips. Now blend the color outwards using brush or even your finger tips, creating a subtle gradient effect. Avoid putting colour on any other area of the lips and lip pencil is not required here. This korean technique gives the illusion of soft, plump and youthful lips.
Recommendation:
Step 7: Highlight for a dewy finish
Ever wondered that even after following all the steps that dewy finish is missing. Don't worry, I am here to tell you about that magical ingredient which gives your skin a natural dewy skin. All you have to do is add a touch of the liquid or cream highlighter to the high points of your face. Ensure that it has a subtle shimmer. Apply it to the cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, and the cupid's bow. Trust me you will glow like an angel from heaven!!
Recommendation:
Step 8: Setting the Makeup
Now with all the heat and sweat, you want to ensure your makeup lasts all day. To set your look , you can use a lightweight, translucent powder or even a liquid setting spray. Powder helps you control shine without taking away from the dewy finish of the natural Korean makeup look. Gently dust the powder over your areas prone to oiliness like your chin, t zone or anywhere god has blessed you with extra oil glands!!!!
